Matthew A. Young is a member of the litigation department in the Freeman Freeman and Smiley’s Los Angeles office.
Mr. Young has a particular focus on commercial lending disputes and intellectual property litigation. He has successfully represented individuals, businesses, and government entities in matters ranging from fraud and negligence to unfair competition and breach of contract.
With regard to intellectual property matters, Mr. Young has prosecuted and defended claims for trade secret misappropriation, trademark and patent infringement, and other matters on behalf of his clients.
Complex cases
Highly experienced in complex cases involving numerous parties and multiple issues, Mr. Young has litigated and resolved multiple class actions, coordinated actions, and other complex litigation, recovering substantial awards for his clients.
Mr. Young represented the City of Los Angeles in a multi-million dollar fraud and breach of contract action against a major international consulting firm. He was also responsible for coordinating all lawsuits relating to the massive methane gas leak in Porter Ranch, California.
Mr. Young has experience in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration. He also has expertise handling international cases against foreign defendants.
