Trusts and Estates

The Trusts and Estates Department carries on the strong tradition of the founding members of the firm to be the premier trusts and estates firm in Southern California.

We strive to build long-lasting relationships with our clients by providing advice and counsel during all stages of their lives – from premarital planning and planning for young families, to wealth transfer and business succession planning for more senior generations, to post-death trust and estate administration. We pride ourselves on the relationships we have built with our clients, many of which have lasted through several generations.

The accomplishments of the current members of the firm include:

  • Leadership in all aspects of estate planning and charitable giving
  • Attorneys whose work led to prevailing in landmark Supreme Court cases
  • The lead attorney in updating the Rutter California Practice Guide for Probate
  • The Chair of the USC Annual Trust and Estate Conference
  • The Chair of Court Liaison Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Executive Committee

Our attorneys possess more than forty years of experience in assisting clients with their trusts and estates needs. We have particular expertise in the following areas:

If disputes arise with regard to the estate planning instruments or post death administration, we have expertise in the full range of dispute resolution, including mediation; trials; and, if necessary, appeals. These disputes include Will and Trust contests, claims against the Estate or Trust, claims against fiduciaries, heirship proceedings, capacity issues, and civil or other lawsuits filed against or brought on behalf of the decedent or the beneficiaries.

For many of our clients, their business interests are inextricably connected to their personal planning. Our attorneys have the support of a full-service law firm to ensure our clients receive efficient cross-disciplinary representation in almost every area of the law, including corporate, tax, employment, intellectual property, litigation, real estate, and securities.
